‍ ‍Melissa Morris

Accompanist

Melissa is a freelance collaborative pianist based in Birmingham. Originally from Somerset, Melissa studied at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire achieving 1st class honours in piano performance and Distinction LRSM the same year.

Following an Erasmus Programme of study at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music (Weimar, Germany), she was awarded the Weingarten Scholarship and spent a year studying at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music (Budapest).

Melissa then returned to RBC to complete her Masters achieving Commendation.

Melissa’s performing experience and interests reflect the diversity of her musical education and passion for cultural exchange through the arts. Recent projects include working with Welsh National Opera touring performances for children with special educational needs, Birmingham Opera Company community workshops, composing an outdoor theatre work for B’Opera, composing and performing neo-classical cross-over works with electronic artists EIF and the contemporary dance company Vanhulle Dance Theatre, and recitals with her trio The Willow Ensemble. 

Melissa loves teaching piano, and currently teaches at Stowe School in Buckingham, and the RBC Junior Department.

Melissa also loves walking, flasks of hot tea, flying her drone, horse-riding and singing with the CBSO Chorus.

The Midlands Hospitals’ Choir is a large, mixed voice choir based in Birmingham, in the heart of the UK. Formed in 1981 in memory of Sir Malcolm Sargent and the charity set up in his name, the choir originally drew its members from local hospitals. We still have a large contingent from the medical and associated professions but nowadays the choir is open to anyone with a passion for singing (no auditions required!) and a desire to help us fund-raise for charitable causes
