News 2024

Our performance of The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins (A Mass for Peace) on 7th July 2024 at Birmingham Town Hall, with The Phoenix Singers, raised £3,063.50 for the wonderful organisation Médecins Sans Frontières. It was a fantastic occasion which received some of the most moving feedback we’ve ever had, including:

“I was going to contact you again – in the space of six minutes this afternoon I met two people who’d attended the event, and were eagerly heaping praise upon the whole performance – as one said to me, the music and the performance was so powerful, with an amazing depth of tonal and other richness that no-one would have believed them to be a simple community choir.”

“Last night was beyond brilliant, I don’t think I have ever been so powerfully moved by a musical perfomance in my life – the quality of the singing, music and presentation were of the highest possible standards and the combined sounds were magnificent”

“You all deserve all the honour you get over that – and the Town Hall was the perfect setting for it. On a personal note, my immediate forebears served at the sharp end of many of the biggest “shows” in two World Wars, so the perfomance was exceptionally personal.”

Bournville Gardens Concerts 2020/2021

We’ve sung several times at Bournville Gardens Retirement Village in the last year or so, carol singing during Christmas 2020 and an open air concert during Summer 2021, and will be doing so again during Christmas 2021. Credit for these pictures goes to the Gardens’ photographer, who very kindly sent us some of the photos he took.

Christmas 2020. It was pretty cold but we stuck it out and the residents loved us!

Not just the sun that’s beaming . . .
There was cake and it was amazing!
